Well ahead of the 2009 Member's Choice Awards poll, I'd like to suggest having subcategories.
I.E., in 'Games', have:
Arcade
Tactical/Strategy
Board
Card
Whatever
so that one can vote on, say, SuperTux, Mahjongg, and KBattleship separately. This would go for other categories, as well. Too many unrelated products have been lumped together in the past, when each and every one deserves an honest vote from those who use them, rather than the member needing to decide which one they use the most.
Just my . I know it's mostly for fun, but it should still be fair.
Cheers

While we won't be having "Subcategories", we have broken a couple categories into multiple categories in the past. It's always a matter of having too many categories vs. having too many semi-related projects in the same category. I'll be posting the proposed list of categories for 2009 very soon.

Being able to cast a few votes in the Games category would be good, but still have an overall winner based on # of votes.

Hehehe... That was only an example of what I was thinking. My mind eludes me now on which projects/categories I had in mind, but IIRC there have been unrelated or semi-related projects in more productive fields that were mixed together in the same category in the past. However, Jeremy has replied, and I understand the situation and respect his decision.
