john_walsh54: When I read your early post, I got curious and had a look at your other threads. I don't see your sig man ... you delete it?

BTW: you could try sticking your PC/OS et al in your distro entry in your profile ... most folk look there and nobody can turn it off.

For me, the sidebar is one place I do look when I wonder which OS I'm dealing with. Folk who don't at least give a representative mean I usually have to scroll back to the start of the thread (maybe a few pages back) to find out. (Hello TK? Of course, some folk leave it out because they could be asking about an OS they do not normally use and this would be confusing.)

john, one other thing to remember is that your system may change in the future and everyone reading your thread looking for similar advice in the future would be confused to see that the advice didn't match your current system. There are also times that you could be looking for advice about a system that wasn't included in your sig.
