Is the post that triggered the email still in the thread? If not, it's possible it was moved to another thread or removed as spam, which could cause the thread to have no new posts when you visited the site.
It is the post number 47, for which I got the mail, it is still there !
This happened yesterday too with the last post here. I could see that post only when I saw the mail next morning in Office even though I had checked in 3 times before too.

This isn't a problem I've been able to reproduce. You are getting notified via email and no other members are reporting the issue, so it's unlikely we'll realistically be able to track it down. We do have some fairly major code upgrades planned for the midterm future however, and it's very possible the issue will be corrected then.
