QUESTION:
Has some decision been taken whether the reputation system in to be continued in /General forum too?...
@anishakaul
From what I can tell, the Rep system is disabled in /General because post-count (and the "Thanks" system, I think) is disabled.
At least, posts #339 and #349 seems to indicate that.
Actually I clicked on a poster's scales button there and as usual it asked me "Approve / Disapprove" !
And there was also a discussion going on w.r.t creating a new forum for technical threads in /General, So I don't know whether I am supposed to give the repute points in General or wait for the new forum, or don't give repute points at all!

I see nothing of that sort. There is "Most Viewed Threads (in last 30 days)", "Top Posters (in last 30 days)", and "Latest Posts", nothing else. Am I going blind?

Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: Yes.
Seriously, you can click on the header (example header: Most Viewed Threads (in last 30 days). A drop down menu appears from which you can choose.

At this time the rep system is enabled in all forums. As post #349 indicates, we may disable rep in certain forums based on feedback but we have made no decision on that yet.

- I would like to see it disabled on all none-technical forums.

Posts marked as NON-helpful do not impact your rep at this time, which is why they don't show up in the reputation section of the UserCP. We'll be making a final decision on this one over the next few days.

If there's sufficient demand it's possible we'd add some kind of Helpful notification area or the ability to search for posts marked helpful/unhelpful, but simply lumping them into a section they're not related to doesn't make much sense. If we do decide that a no "helpful" should subtract rep, it would then show up in the reputation notification area.

I think it's possible that many people are lumping helpful and the rep system together because helpful is the first major system to feed into the rep system. Ideally there will be other systems adding data at some point, however.

For those of you interested in having rep disabled in some forums, I'm curious as to your reasoning why? Shouldn't how you act in *all* fora be taken into account when building your rep? I'd also be interested to hear from members on the other side of the opinion. Thanks again for the continued feedback, we're iterating this functionality fairly quickly and I think the end result is going to be much better for it.
