Count of WIki Articles

I am curious how the number of Wiki article is calculated. There are many that simple have a the definition of a single term or abbreviation or pages with no content, but have links to other pages. Are these calculated in the total?

Yes, they should be counted.

This is fairly clearly explained on the statistics page in the wiki: http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/index...ial:Statistics

Quote:
There are 4868 total pages in the database.
This includes "talk" pages, pages about the LinuxQuestions.org Wiki, minimal "stub" pages, redirects, and others that probably don't qualify as articles. Excluding those, there are 2382 pages that are probably legitimate articles.
The number I always quote is the lower one, which does not include most of the items you refer to (which would be stub pages).

what about (for example) the burning cds/dvds page?
http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Burning_a_CDROM

this claims to be a stub- but it should (in my opinion) be counted as a legitimate article.

That page would be counted by the software (which does all of this automatically).
