Dsl-wap-lin/win Network !

It has been a great two weeks! I had dsl installed. I set it up using my main laptop(
toshiba sat) with winxp and my backup (old toughbook) with winme. I don't have a
desktop yet but I am getting ready to build one. I decided to go wireless and got a
D-Link DI-524 but I could'nt get it configured. This was probably my fault because I
didn't try to many times before I bought a Linksys wrt54g. It set up on the first try.
I tried the D-Link first because I am using a d-link DWL-122 usb wireless adapter on
the toshiba and I should mention it works perfectly. Every thing was good so I decided
to rock the boat and inject linux into the equation. At various times with varying de
grees of success I have had mdk9.1(most successful),redhat9,fedora,suse,and have
tried others on one or both of the boxes.I put Lycoris on the toughbook. I can hear
the groans out there but the decision to try lycoris was a fortuitous accident. I had
just bought a magazine that had two cd's with lycoris and xandros eval distributions.
I intended to go with mdk9.1 but since I was going to wipe winme anyway I stuck the
lycoris cd in and hit install. Everything went perfectly! It recognized the netgear pcmcia
card, helped me configure the wap connection, booted fine. It is a little slow but I am
going to add some ram to the toughbook and see if that helps. This morning I d/led
and installed opera, setup a shared folder with the winxp laptop and wirelessly accessed
some txt files. Life is good!

Which distro recognized your DWL-122 automatically ? As far as I know none includes a precompiled module for the prism2_usb, which is the reason why I wrote a HOWTO

Please let me know, thanks.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant the d-link worked great with xp not linux.

I added a wireless print server to my linux set-up this morning. I am still using the same basic gear with some OS changes. I am quad booting Sarge, XP, ME, and Knoppix 3.7(h/d install).Knoppix -> DWL-122 -> Linksys wrt54g ->
Linksys Wireless G Print Server using cups. Works great.
