Hi,
I am not so very new to linux, but recently I started using it as my desktop.
I think linux is a great way to learn about computing since it really puts you in a drivers seat.
I love debian and slackware but currently I ride on Yoper wich is a great little lightweight distro from New Zeland, but it has a few bugs although. But I think if maintainers will persist in this way it has a bright future.
I would just like to say that before you dive into linux I strongly recommend reading a book or few tutorials on it, if not you will eventually find it uselles, hard and pintless and that is as far from truth you can get, but as operating system it does require understanding of things you do. And from my experiences forget classifications like noob friendly distro or expert distro. Just gain some previous understanding from literature and you'll be fine. Also, try to do as much trough comsole as possible, coz that way you gain knowledge that isnt distro specific.
Ok, I am off now, it is 9.14 and still hadnt had coffe
, have fun, byees
