Wink Very New and intimidated.

Hi Folks;
I'm Tony, I'm an old fart brought in from the stone age. New to Linux. I read a lot of new words and LETTERS (BQX) type things that to me mean nothing. I feel that this may be a good alternative to Windows but I seem unable to get off the ground.

nowadays plenty of linux distros exist that are geared towards non-nerdy, "normal" users.
check it out:

linux mint & ubuntu (and their respective forums) are still the strongest in this category, i guess.

Hi&Welcome (tho you've been a silent member for a year)!

"Think Positive" & Linux will work Here's a simple way to TRY it (in 9minutes, on M$Win):
VirtualBox; grab a pre-installed .vdi & run it, like an 'app'!
(take defaults except page9 that vdi as disk: p.8 1G ram; p.12 1cpu; p.15 nat)
Let me know if you do get Linux up&running in 9minutes (not counting the 1G download time)

ENJOY!
