netmask doesn't make sense
I am in a LAN :
the network administrator gave this settings:
my IP: 86.55.180.97
gateway:86.55.180.100
netmask:255.255.254.0
I use Slackware 10 with 2.6.15 Kernel.
All went well until 2 days ago when suddenly the internet was down.
when I type route I get this:
Destination Gateway Source Mask
86.55.180.0 86.55.180.100 255.255.254.0
why did the destination IP changed?
and why can't I delete this entry ?
I've tried to put this
route -net add 86.55.180.97 gw 86.55.180.100 netmask 255.255.254.0 dev eth0
but it doesn't work
