introducing myself Ivo Caruana

I have been a mac user since the mac plus, (yes years ago). I am 68 years old but still fascinated with os system. I believe that only now with window 10 micrsoft have just come near the Mac os quality but not quite. I would like to try linux knowing that it is on the same basis of Mac os roots that is unix.

Welcome to the forums. Lots of opinions about that here - mine is that Windows will never even come close to the quality of MacOS. Every year, the windows OS gets worse and worse, with Windows 10 being in my opinion, the worst piece of software they ever made. Other people love it but I do not because I use it in a corporate environment every day and it gives nothing but trouble.

Linux is a great OS, I have been using it for my main system since 1998, with a short hiatus on Mac and now a fairly long hiatus on FreeBSD. Linux is not MacOS. You will never find an open source operating system that has the level of integration that modern MacOS has. Linux is definitely a very user friendly desktop experience, especially if you stick to a major distribution so jump in and have fun!
