Cool Hi ! introducing myself

Im am a senior engineer by the birth date (1944 in Brussels).
I am a french man (nobody is perfect) and my english is sometimes a personal dialect.
I was first involved with UNIX in the early seventies, when I was young a nuclear physicist, in the french AEC (aka CEA in France). I worked in Paris area, Milan, a city formerly named Leningrad, and a little in UK, Germany and the United States (Berkeley, Los Alamos).
I was involved in various activities pertaining to IT : real time data acquisition, scientific calculation, real time computers building, then elearning, then AI (artificial intelligence) first at language level (Lisp, Prolog), then with knowledge acquisition (for expert systems) ;
then technical data management ; then I switched to more managerial issues including quality and benchmarking.

Now I am a retiree (no longer an employee), but still active in some areas :
- as the chairman of a local IT community, providing courses to people, sometimes very senior (more than 80), and struggling to introduce Linux into Windows addict homes. I have installed several dozens of Linux's (Ubuntu, Suse, Mandriva, Fedora...).
I spend a alrge share of my time volunteering in others non profit organizations, including one struggling to help people with psychic issues (I'm not sure this is the correct wording, but the right wording is touchy in french...).
- also as a kind of webmaster, presently learning PHP, trying to use Apache more efficiently, exploring CMS's.
- also as interested in deductive web techniques and approaches.
- I am considering restarting some professional work as an independant.

Well, in a way, I was an IT professional turned manager, and taking advantage of his old days to meet again his youth's technical loves.
Presently, I usually can use Linux without any problem for my needs. But since I am restarting non-trivial development, I am sure I shall need help. And maybe, sometimes I can provide help.
Enjoy your day.
