Hey, just another Linux (and Perl) aficionado. Wish I'd have known about this forum a few years ago when I first dove into this wonderful world.
Been a tech for many years, as well as programming (Perl, c, among many.)
I've learned a lot in the time since I first built my test system out of an old intel p3 550 back in 2001, RH 7.3 which still runs rock solid to this day (with a kernel patch every so often... currently running (2.4.20-20.7... In know I know, need to update that sometime.)
