hello Linux people

Hi!
I'm new to Linux.org, new to Linux idea and new to the world of computers (i've been using them for some time but... know nothing about "behind the screen" actions). I'm a scientist in the world of biology and I'm trying to expand in order to find a job stability option - almost impossible in the world of research
I'm not sure how good idea of mine it is - it's all seems to be so complicated and all of you guys know sooo much more and are soooooooooooooooooooo much younger than me.
However, i DO enjoy my (painful and very, very basic!) introduction into the word of computer programing - so keep you fingers crossed, who knows!
best regards C.elegance

Don't let your perception fool you, you aging padawan! It's got nothing to do with physical age but with your willingness to adapt and learn. Like walking, learning to perform a tracheotomy or handling a M240G properly it just takes time, practice and common sense.

Welcome to LQ, young, I am knocking at 65 and have been a linux user for about two years now and still have alot to learn. Most of them still call me a newbie so I can suspect how old they are. Years of age has nothing to do with the mind. I'm becoming more of a kid every day.

I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability. First you need to start a new thread for each question because a lot of people do not read the intro titles. You will see boxes to the right side of the page and about the third one down titled "My LQ" is the place to go and "My Threads" should take you to all the questions you posted. "My Posts" should show all your questions and every other person's thread that you posted to. Don't forget the Wiki for command information and using the search engine "Google" will help you find tutorials on different questions. As far as finding out your user directory name open terminal (konsole) and type ls and hit enter and it should list your directories.
