Hello, fellow IT peoples.....
Hey there all -
My name is Charles. Here's some info about myself with regards to Linux....
My company is currently using Red Hat and Fedora for a number of different purposes. After talking to my Engineering staff that chose Fedora to start with, I have quickly learned that, even with my minimal knowledge, I could run circles around most of the people who use Linux on a daily basis here. So, with that awareness, I've decided that I need to learn a lot more about Linux.
I've started working with and learning Red Hat and Fedora extensively since that's what I have inherited/been given/had thrust upon me. I know it is really geeky to say this, but I am REALLY enjoying Red Hat/CentOS lately. I haven't had much to do lately in Fedora other than basic user support and that's why I've been concentrating on Red Hat/CentOS. I started reading the book "Red Hat Certified System Administrator & Engineer" by Asghar Ghori (hello if you're reading this!!) and am really getting a ton of good data out of it. With this book as my jumping off point, I've been getting familiar with the RHCSA certification path and hope to get that in the next couple of months. After that, will I go for RHCE? No idea yet - time will tell.
I do have some questions (of course *grins*) that I'll be posting to the forums because while I am learning Red Hat from the start, I am expected to be able to be supporting our existing servers and also be able to setup new ones.
Well, that's a little about me. I look forward to learning more about this wonderful world of Linux, but as I said I'm new so please be gentle! *laughs*
Thank you,
Charles
