Greetings from Rickkkk
Hey all,
I've been a member here already for several years but I never noticed this particular area in the forum until now. Apologies.
I'm Rick. Live in the Montreal, Canada area and have been working in financial institutions my entire working life (upwards of 30 years now ... ..) .. Half of that has been on the business side of things and half in IT infrastructure, in various management roles.
On the personal side - I have a family that keeps me busy ... Currently, my main personal interests are music, computer technology and reading. I've been a DOS (yikes I know ...) and Windows user for the last 32 years, still use Windows at work and at home for family members' computers. I've been using linux since around 2008 and my current system of choice is Arch, for my various client computers and my home server.
I've been using virtualization technology more and more at home in the last few years and have recently (last year or so) begun migrating my music production stuff from Windows to linux.
Have enjoyed my time so far on LQ. I decided to start contributing more as an active member once I gained sufficient experience to be useful to others. I have found that I enjoy the experience of helping others and also find that it is a learning experience in itself.
Distribution: Currently: OpenMandriva. Previously: openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

I was actually wondering why I didn't see any posts from yourself in other parts of LQ. (other than the Newbie's forum) As I think you could really help people in other forums here, hope to see you in other parts of LQ.

Kind words, jsb - thanks ... You're right that I do tend to stick mostly to the Newbie forum - I guess that's where I find questions I am more qualified to help people with. I have at times contributed in other forums (Arch, Hardware, Software, Laptops, Linux General), but you're right, far less frequently. Maybe I'll give it a look more often.
