Wink First post - greetings from Germany

Hi all, nice to be here. I must admit that I did not know that a site like this even existed. I only found it sort of by mistake as I was reading some news Blog on Linux and this site was mentioned. I tried it out and I registered. So here I am. I greet you all and wish you all a merry xmas.

Hi MiniMajik, I do find this site very interesting and I am sure it will be very helpful to me in the future. I like Linux very much and I have been using it for approx. 18 months now. The only distros I have tried are Ubuntu and Mint. I like both but am currently using Ubuntu 9.10. My desktop is an Imac running OS X, but for my work (I work as a teacher/trainer) I use a Sony laptop running Ubuntu. I do a lot of presentations and sometimes show some training videos and I find that Ubuntu coupled with Open Office does the job just fine. I do not use MS Windows at all.
You are very kind to offer me your help and I thank you for that, however I would like you to know that I live in Germany and hold a German passport but I am not German by birth. Actually I am a South African, my mother language being Afrikaans but I do not have a problem with either English or German. I also have no problem with the technical terms but I am not very technical minded and therefore I mostly need help doing those technical things (mostly software related) that sometimes have to be done. I sometimes do the dumbest things with my Linux installation and then do not know how to fix it again. In these cases I am very thankful for forums like these and friendly helpers like yourself willing to give advice and help where needed.
Thank you once again for your kind offer. Have a nice day.
