Don't need help, just intro
Hello everyone. I have been using Linux off and on for about a year and a half. I started with Fedeora 2, then switched to Ubuntu Warty and then Hoary. Now I'm using Mandriva 2006.
Like most of you I switched because of how buggy XP had become and because of the security issues. Every distro seems to have its strengths and weaknesses. Mandriva seems the most user friendly, however, installing alternate WMs and DEs is hit and miss. XFCE does not work correctly but Fluxbox does. Window Maker also works well alongside KDE and Gnome. Enlightenment works OK but takes a lot of tweaking. (I'm talking about V. 17 not 16)
All in all Gnome seems the DE for most distros and this is true with Mandriva. KDE comes in a close second.
Installing java and flash for Firefox are problematic, but that is true for all distros.
Thats about all for now.
