another newby I am

Hi- Just getting around to posting my first (post)...I have been interested in LINUX for years and have built a home desktop PC running Debian! Lots of fun. Now I have made the leap and purchased my very own RASPBERY PI 3. Along with the pi came a davis weather station as a present. Now I am attempting to get WVIEW program to install on the pi- but alas: NO JOY. Not finding the correct process to run the install script. Oh well- I did obtain the DEBIAN HANDBOOK and am reading through it to seek the knowledge I desire. That's about it for me. ANy comments/observations or suggestions for me would be appreciated. Tnx. /Ericg.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Gee, you'd think if they gave you a present that they'd give you some documentation about how to install it!

Pi projects usually are very good about that, tons of blogs or other information available.

http://www.vk3bq.com/2014/07/25/rasp...ather-station/ This link uses Raspbian, but perhaps the advice will work for Debian since Raspbian is supposed to be Debian Wheezy ported for the Pi.

Should've said this earlier: A great forum on LQ is the Linux - Embedded and Single Board Computer forum, there are a lot of Raspberry Pi threads on there.

Excellent choice. And by the way, do not beat yourself up trying to figure out how to mark this current thread as solved. In the New Member Intro forum you cannot do that. Technical forums you can and I encourage persons when they do solve a problem that they mark those threads as solved. Happy computing!
