Smile WRT54G Configuration

I have a query related to wireless router configuration(WRT54G).

As an administrator whenever I want to configure my router using a normal browser (when I am behind the router with natted IP to my interface)I have to disable the proxy setting of the browser.Can anyone make it clear why this is done.whether its just to send the http request to your router or is there any other reason for doing so.In our enterprise we have an proxy which shares the a single 2Mbps line.In case if I want to access internet using the browser sitting behind the router,I have to include the proxy IP and its listening port in my browser with out this I am sure I am sure that i will not be unable to access internet.Is there any other way that I can access both router setup page and internet with out disturbing the proxy setting again and again???(one thing to remember I am behind the router with natted IP).

Thanks,

Until you receive a more appropriate and technical response,
you can open another browser with a direct connection rather
than a proxy, and access your router's interface through it;
without having to disturb the proxy in the first browser.

My intention is not to ask such a simple question which was answered by you in a smart way.The way I am seeing this question was to get an answer for "What is the purpose of using a Proxy setting in a browser?" when I was configuring a mesh network using wrt54g routers I was able to access internet and the setup page of the router without assigning any proxy address in my browser settings(i.e., selecting direct connection) from any node which is associated with any one of the mesh wrt54g router.But in an infrastructure network using wrt54g router(linksys firmware) I am unable to access internet if I disable the browser setting where as I can access the setup page of the router from a node which is associated with the wrt54g.
