wpa_supplicant "no suitable AP found."

I cannot connect to any APs. I can connect with WinXP, but not with linux and wpa_supplicant.
My school is broadcasting across the street from me, and my neighbor says that he is broadcasting un-secure internet from his apartment. I cannot connect to any of the APs though.

I've been starting wpa_supplicant with this command.
Code:
wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dmadwifi -iath0 -dd
wpa_supplicant scans for APs and lists about 6 of them, but it says that no suitable AP is found and it rescans endlessly. How do I connect to these APs?

my wpa_supplicant.conf currently looks like this
Code:
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=0
eapol_version=1
ap_scan=1

network={
        scan_ssid=1
#       ssid="05B405327374"
#       ssid="05B401935957"
#       ssid="05B404078509"
#       ssid="04B412646099"
#       ssid="04B412739203"
#       ssid="default"
#       ssid="05B405327374"
#       ssid="05B401089421"
        ssid="Network"
        key_mgmt=NONE
#       pairwise=NONE
        priority=1
}
the ssids that are commented out are the ssids that are listed in the AP scan. I have tried using each of them as the ssid in my .conf file, but that has not helped me either.

****edit
in case it is important, here are the results when I run wpa_supplicant
Code:
