Question WPA2 authentication using Novell Desktop Linux 9 SP2

Hello friends Wish you good day.
I have basics knowledge on Linux Redhat (8), Madrake 8, 9 and presently working on a project of testing Novell Desktop Linux.
Hardware Used: Desktop (Dell 370 workstation) and Laptop used is IBM Thinkpad T42p Centrino Technology.

The linux desktop got loaded on both the platforms without much hassels. Now the core problem is I have to connect to lan via wireless connectivity using WPA2 authentication.

Following is problem faced for IBM Thinkpad.
The laptop has ipw2200BG hardware it is working fine with WPA2 authentication in the windows XP.
The wireless card is working ok in WEP authentication without any modification to linux.

But to have WPA2 authentication I found that I have to use WPA2_supplicant.

NLD 9.2 has kernel 2.6.5-7.191 I did try the update using novell update and I could get it to version 2.6.5-7.252, (Is there any method I can upgrade my kernel to 2.6.8+ using the yast/ Red Carpet) Though I have built new kernel 2.6.16.8 but it give novfs kernel module error.

Still going further I have downloaded the ipw2200 firmware and placed it in the hotplug.

I am struggling with ieee80211 and ipwdriver installation.
Need ur help.
Thanks.

Thumbs up WPA2 authentication

Hello,

I solved the novfs error by uninstalling the Novell client and the error is disappeared.

Also I have taken new kernel from the Kernel.org and compiled and it is working fine.

Over and above the ieee80211 and ipw2200bg is installed with the firmware in proper place and it is now operational.

Have to complete the final of wpa2 authentication.

Bye
