wlan madwifi

I have an Ibm thinkpad r50p with redhat9 and my wireless card is "11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter".
I installed the madwifi driver with make and make install an he copied the modules(ath_pci) in the folder "/lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9custom/". when I type now modprobe ath_pci he says
Quote:
modprobe: Can't locate module ath_pci
In my oppinion it is because he installed the module in the folder "lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9custom/net" and not in the folder "lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9/drivers". why does madwifi makes this? what can I do?

Have you tried using a link?

# ln -s /lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9custom/net/ath_pci.o /lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9/drivers/ath_pci.o

Also, well... depmod -a so modprobe will know its there, but do you have uuencode on the machine? If not, at least in the past, the module will load but wont work right, or really at all. I have no idea why its used during the compile, and not fatal when its not found, but you need that for the compile. Its part of the shar-utils package.

Cheers,

I tried everything, and nothing worked, so I recompiled my kernel. After this, he copied the module to the right folder, and it worked.
