Caution:
Hi people, I just have some questions regarding wireless security if someone is able to help me. Before I get into the main questions here is a bit of background; At the moment I have a small wired LAN of 3 machines sitting behind a gateway pc running smoothwall (connected to an ADSL line).
What I looking at doing is expanding my network out using wireless networking to three other (and more if it works later) locations. One of the locations I am looking at getting connected only has dialup internet access, so I am wanting to let him access the internet using my ADSL line over the wireless connection. The problem with this is I have to stop the other person from using my connection, and also stop any intrudors from using it as well (I dont have
that much data to play with!). What would be the best way of doing this? Is there such thing as a firewall script that can allow\deny internal connections based on mac address or some other means? If so I am happy to get rid of smoothwall and setup something else as I feel I have a good intermediate knowledge of Linux (mainly RedHat, Smoothwall and Gentoo) and would be happy to learn anything else that is needed.
Also, what other security measures are people using to stop unauthorized people from accessing their precious LANs? I know that WEP obviously isn't enough to stop people so I am wanting to lock it down as much as possible.
Thanks to anyone who got this far, and for anyone who responds!
