Hey folks,
It's been awhile since I've posted....Hell, it's been almost a year!
I have just recently dove back into the linux community and need some advise on getting my Linksys(I know problem number one) wireless PCMCIA card model WPC11 working on a Toshiba 4030 CDT running RedHat 8 default kernel.
I have installed and successfully configured a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 intergrated CardBus PC card for connecting via Cat5 when I'm downstrairs, but I cannot get the wireless card setup.
I have installed the pcmcia-cs pakage 3.2.4 and linux-wlan-ng 0.1.14pre1.
I have aliased eth0 with orinoco-cs.
When I use the network configuration from gnome, it recognizes an orinoco/Prism II based card, but no matter the configuration I set the card will not initilize.
New info.
Just installed version 0.2 of wlan-ng.
The modules are registering ok.
The info on final configuration states that the wlan-ng.opts file in /etc/pcmcia needs to be edited, but its not there.
the only wlan files are wlan-ng and wlan-ng.config.
Hmmm...
I don't know much about RH 8 kernel, but is it 2.4.2x? When I used that kernel my card was recognised automatically. Try modprobe orinoco, orinoco_cs, and hermes, and cardmgr, as root
