Wired and Wireless connections not working after update to ubuntu 11.04

I am new to linux, and recently updated to ubuntu 11.04, when it rebooted, it would not connect to wireless. Then I plugged it into the router and tried a wired connection, with no luck. It shows up, but won't let me connect. My laptop is a dell inspiron 1501.

I think you can burn a cd with 11.10 by your frend and than upgrade with that cd. (hopefully when you come to 11.10/12.04 wired or wireless will work)
