Windows7/Ubuntu 12.04 Dual Boot - Wireless Connection Does Not Work in Linux

Hello. I'm pretty new to Linux. This afternoon I set up a Windows7/Ubuntu12.04 dual boot on my HP ProBook4530s laptop. I did this at school and everything worked fine. However, when I got home the wireless connection did not work when running Linux.

I have a pretty funky wireless connection since it allows me to save a few bucks from my ISP. The internet comes in through a Motorola SBG900 surfboard modem/router. This device is then connected to an Arris TG862 modem/router (The Arris device has a telephone connected to it. The cable comapny will charge me an extra $5 a month to connect directly through the Arris device). In Windows, I can connect to either router and it works properly. In Linux, neither one works. In fact, the connection with the Motorola device is spotty. I can connect via ethernet to the Motorola device, but not Arris router.

Any idea on what I should be trying. Do you think it's worth it to forget the dual modem set-up and cough up the $5 a month for simplicity. Thanks.

This fixed itself. Although sometimes the computer will need to be connected for 10 minutes or so before the internet works. I'll deal with it for now. Thanks
