wifi not picking up ip from dhcp

Hi

I seems to be having a weird issue. i have just installed suse 9.3 on my dell D400 laptop and the installation was successful, except that i cant seems to get my wifi Intel Pro/WireLess 2200BG to get the ip from DHCP. i have another laptop HP having Wifi of Broadcom and from there i know that the DHCP is working fine though it's running XP pro.

the weird part of all this is, which i believe what it looks like to me.

1. suse 9.3 has recognized the wifi card as eth1 and not wlan0
2. even though it's eth1, i can configure it manually with ip n all and it works just fine no problems but with DHCP no luck what so ever.
3. on DHCP it does see the Access Point and gets connected to it easily using the "Network Selector" utility in Suse 9.3 or using Internet Tools. but it won't get the IP from DHCP..

any help would be really appericated. thanks in advance.

try using tcpdump ("tcpdump -i eth1 -n") to see what is exactly happening.

The log on Access Point only says Oct/27/2005 05:58:51 Wireless PC connected 00-0e-35-6e-b3-b3 that my laptop mac address. not showing if the AP delivered the IP Address or not

nothing which can make us come to the conclusion.

well , the only solution i have come up with is to configure the WLan with static IP ADDRESS and it just works fine.. but still this keeps me thinking what is this all about...
