Unhappy Webpages loading slowly, but other downloads very fast

hi,

im running fedora core 4 on an AMD x86_64, the machine is a compaq presario r4000 notebook. the kernel version is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4. since there was no linux support for the broadcom wireless adapter, im using ndiswrapper to connect to my home wireless network.

the peculiar problem im facing is that webpages take a looong time to load in firefox, konquerer etc. but otherwise the internet connection is working fine, im able to listen to streaming audio from the net without any jumps etc. also, i recently downloaded a file from the AMD site using firefox`s download manager @ 500kbps.

oh, and everything works very fast in windoze, including webpage loading, downloading etc.

can you guys help me out? if you need anymore info about my network setup, plz do also tell me what to type in to get that info. your help will be much appreciated.

thanks in anticipation,
Mayank

Have you tried releasing the IP adress and then renewing it? It works wonders sometimes

in Linux type cat /etc/resolv.conf while connected, then in Windows open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all. Compare the nameservers in the resolv.conf to the DNS servers listed from ipconfig and post both here. It sounds like you have a bad nameserver listed in Linux.
