Turning off ssid broadcast

How can I turn off broadcast ssid in linux. I have an ad-hoc network and i dont want it to broadcast the ssid. I have herd you can do it with hostap but i am using Cisco Aironet 350 series card. Modle Air-lmc352. And these cards arn't supported by hostap.
thanks

Turning off SSID broadcast can cause connection problems in infrastructure mode with some clients. I'm not sure of the implications for ad-hoc configs. Regardless, there is no security benefit to turning off the beacon. The SSID is still broadcast in response to probes and is clearly visible with tools like Kismet. If better security is the goal, look for other ways to protect your connection.

I appreciate your concern with my network security, but was not asking for advice on such. I simply want to know how I can turn off SSID broadcast with out using hostap.
