SuSE 9.1 USB-G Network Adapter
I have been asking some forums, and around some linux chatrooms in IRC. What i have is a system that is connected to a router down in the basement of my house which is directly connected to the cable modem. I have a Wireless G USB Network Adapter to receive the 802g signal of my wireless network. This already works fine on my windows XP. But now since I have gotten into learning linux and installed my SuSE 9.1 on my seperate hard drive I would like to get it on the internet. I tried going into YaST and trying their networking card setting but it said it didnt support a USB connecting device. Any help would be appreciated, hope thats enough information.

Yes I also have a USB wireless adaptor. I haven't received any tips yet, it doesn't seem that linux is very keen on wireless compatability. I just can't find any drivers, you need to know the chipset of your adaptor first before you go installing any drivers. Wireless adaoptors do work on linux, there just a pain to get working properly.

okay well i am trying out a USB driver, and i opened in the konsole the tar.gz file, and it created a file on the desktop. i ./Configure and ran the Configure file. After answering to y/n questions, It asked me where the dir would be to place the files with the kernal source code. The default dir is [usr/src/linux] so i hit enter and it gives me a error that there is no dir there and i check and there isnt.... Where would my kernal source code be?

I ran a prog like that before, it said there was no directory. Well after I installed the latest kernal(for mandrake) then it found the directory. If you still get the problem after you installed your kernal find out exactly where it was put, and then put the directory location into where it asks you to put it...bad grammar

go and download driverloader.. It uses windows driver to run the device and does work with 802.11g. If it works for you, you can buy it for 19.99, all updates are free for one year and there is a 30 day trial where you can test it out.. its amazing how easy it is.. helped me set up my wlan in a breeze as opposed to 3 days of unsuccessful attempt with linux drivers.
good luck

Kinda late but....
That is the same driver loader I used on mandrake, It *didn't* work for me. An expirienced user said it doesn't work with wireless, I thought the prog was to install wireless drivers? Oh well, there are plenty of others out there
