Hi, Sall! I, too, am a Linux noobie (though I've been in IT for 12 years, now). I am having the exact same problem as you describe here. My Linksys card will power up and appear to make a connection to my access point, but it will never receive an IP address, nor am I able to communicate on my network if I hardcode an IP address. I am anxious to get this thing working, too. While doing some research, I decided to see what Linksys themselves have regarding this very problem.

Turns out they have what appears to be a helpful page. You can go here to view their instructions for getting the Linux drivers working for their card. I hope to put this into practice tonight and see if I can get it working.

In the event the link above doesn't work, the exact web address for the page is http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...=&p_topview=1.

With as many problems as people have regarding this, I hope that this will work. Let me know if you have any success with it.

Almost...

Shadeboy,
I looked into your post seems helpful. I ran into problem though when it got to the Kernel part. This is the message I received. Any guesses? I'm lost...

Sall,
I'm afraid I'm stumped, too. I have very little experience compiling, and I'm afraid the limits of my ability to help have been reached. Hopefully someone else can chime in, here.

On another note, I do have my wireless working under SUSE Linux 9.2. To be honest, I really don't know how I got it working. But if you want to read the story about it, you can find it here.
