suse 9.0 pro and a netgear ma101
i keep switching distros i know, but....
ok, i went through all this crap with mandrake, but i switched to suse coz of problems i had with mdk and my nvidia drivers. but that's not why i'm posting now.
I have a ma101 usb wireless adapter from netgear. i set the ESSID, the channel and the mode using iwconfig and it picks up the network but cannot actually connect to it. now under mandrake at this point i typed dhclient and all was well, (under mdk10 the gui wireless setup worked fine). With suse i don't HAVE dhclient, aparently there is dhcpd, but that says it's not set up to listen on any ports or something similar.
The wirless setup under yast doesn't seem to do anything but i might be wrong. I've tried using the gui utility to set it up as a static ip adress on the network and it still won't connect.
do i need to manually edit the ifcfc-wlan0 file? there's a dhcpd.conf file that i can't make much sense of. it was mentioned in one post.
what should i do to make the ma101 connect to my wirless router?
the router is a netgear mr814, up to date firmware and it works fine in windows and worked under mandrake 10 and 9.2.
