Question Status of 802.11g WiFi ?

I have a wireless network (802.11g) that works great under the OS that I couldn't care less about. I am using all Airlink Plus hardware, router, PCI cards, and PCMCIA in my laptop.

My question is this, When can we expect support of 802.11g within Linux? I am using Mepis Linux but will need to make a critical decision in the near future since I am moving to a house with no cabling being in the works. If I have to, I can place my computers next to the router....

Are there specific developers that I may contact to help test or to prod along as in the case of Broadcom? The lag between Windows and Linux in this case is killing me!

David
