scanning different available wireless networks

Hi,

I am currently running fc2 with a 2.6.9 kernel. I start my wireless connection using
a ifup script.

Is there a precompiled software that displays different wireless networks that are
available and lets me choose which one to connect to?

I was told that Apradar does that, but I am unable to install the rpm due to some failed dependencies. The Apradar page ( http://apradar.sourceforge.net/ ) tells that Apradar will
work if the command 'iwlist eth1 scanning' works.
But when i type that command I get
eth1 Interface doesn't support scanning : Operation not supported

can some tell me what I shd do to get it working?
rpm -qf `which iwlist`
wireless-tools-26-4

thanks
-Anand
