RTL8187 doesn't maintain connection

Hey all. I'm running Sabayon Linux, and when I installed it I was surprised to see that my WG111v2 was detected by the RTL8187 driver straight out of the box. I can connect to a network, but after a few seconds it drops my connection - it still shows up as "connected," but no packets go through. No pings, no websites, nothing. Any ideas?

Wow...

Wow, it makes me feel so much better that someone else is having the same issue. Now if I could only figure out why.

My system specs are,

Mandriva 2008 32bit
Asus M2NSLI Deluxe motherboard with the Realtek RTL8187 wireless built-in
KDE

My connection will run fine from what I can tell, until I start some heavy connection programs like ktorrent or Frostwire. Within an hour or so after leaving the PC alone for awhile, screensaver sets in, monitor sleeps, it goes dead. Still shows connection, but no packets being sent or taken. It is very odd. I even went so far as to purchase a new wireless router, Linksys WRT54GL, and the problem still exists. I have a dual boot system with XP, and I have noticed the problem is the same with XP also, which leads me to believe that the RTL8187 is the problem. The only way to get my connection back is to restart the machine.

Let me know if you need any other info on this issue. I would love to have this problem fixed.
