Unhappy RH9 Wireless Lan and static IP

need some help with redhat 9.0 and a wireless lan

I'm running without wlan, using the stock out-of-box options for wireless through redhat.

the accesspoint is a linksys WRT54G, and the card is a WPC11 v3

I can successfully connect to the access poing using DHCP and 128-bit WEP, and have no issues with connecting to the internet.

however, i now need to assign a static IP address to the wireless (eth1) interface to solve a problem with other machines on the wireless network... in /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth1 and /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth1 i have statically assigned the IP, and i am able to connect to the access point and the local network. however, i cannot reach past the gateway (10.10.0.1), and in addition, have no DNS resolution.

can anyone help?

Check your resolv.conf. I think DHCP will fill in the values for you. I use static IP on my laptop, and I had to put the address of my router in as the nameserver in resolv.conf.

you nailed the problem -- the resolv.conf was being generated by DHCP dynamically. i threw the external nameservers in there and it worked after a reboot!

thanks for the help!
