Wink Redhat 7.2 and Wireless LAN

Well where can I start. I have a dual boot between Redhat 7.2 and Windows XP Pro. I have about a month using linux now, but Im still a big newbie. Anyways, I have a wireless network and the main computer has the SMC Barricade; other two computers, including mine, have wireless cards. My dad made me do the wireless netowrk cuz he hates cables for some reason. I like the regular ones better. They are cheaper, easier to install, and in some cases, faster.

Soooo I was able to connect with WindowsXP because I downloaded from the other computer and installed the drivers through the disk. To connect my Redhat 7.2 I downloaded the drivers into D: (while in win) and then mounted them in linux. It took me a while to figure out what the heck to do with those tar.gz files. So I unzipped my drivers... where's my "setup.exe" nooooooo .

Hehe, I read the "readme" me file but i get an error of some kind when i try to install the thing. Im I gonna have to open the shell thingie every time I install something? So anyways, I cant install the drivers for my wireless card (SMC2602W). The linux drivers for my card also look a little bit old but they should still work.

Oh, by the way, is there anything similar to WinZIP for linux, like LinGz i don't know, I'm tired of using <tar> and <gunzip> and typing these long names on the console.

Im thinking of staying with WinXP and getting rid of Linux. WinXP is very very stable and I havnt seen my fisrt Blue Screen. Besides it is easier you install things with a SETUP.EXE !!!

forget what I said I still wanna use linux, but please help me. Thanks.

IRC? Im at ETG #quake.ve (irc.enterthegame.com) and #counterstrike

if the file you are installing with is named

extraLong_file_so_I_will_go_Crazy-i386-whatever_version_blah_blah.tar.gz

type tar zxf e*

to open it. if you have another file starting with e then use something that will make it work like

tar zxf *_bl*

whatever it takes to make it unique
