Problems connecting

I have a Toshiba Laptop TOSHIBA
Satellite® A45 Series
Feature Model(s): Part Numbers
Satellite A45-S130
Cel2800, 15.0”XGA, 512MB, 40GB, DVD-CDRW, Mdm ,LAN, WiFi, WinXP Home

I removed the winxp install and ran the Fedora Core 3 installation. Took the path of least resistance through the instalation, but when I got done I noticed that the installation did not include my wireless connection.

System manuals say that the wireless card is this:

Integrated Wireless LAN (802.11g) - Atheros

I ran the internet configuration wizard and tried to set up a new wireless connection, but two steps in I am to pick a card from the list which doesn't include anything like Atheros or Generic integrated card etc.

Anyone know what installation will work with this laptop? and maybe anticiapte what problems I will see down the line?

Other posts here suggest downloading madwifi for a similar laptop, will that work for this? ( and to be honest not sure I understood all the instructions on that)

Relative linux newbie here any help is appreciated .

Thanks

Hello Rujholla,

A couple of things. Can you post back with the outputs from the following commands
Code:
lspci
Code:
iwconfig
Code:
ifconfig
Madwifi is still in the early stages of development and requires you to access the code via CVS - not too tough but if you are new to linux its not the easiest start. Ndiswrapper is much more widely used and may well work with your card. The output from the lspci command will let us know more.
Cheers
Chris
