Unhappy No Ip With Wifi

I am trying to connect to a wireless network that uses a WPA-PSK(TKIP) key. I use an Intel Pro Wireless 2200, I know it works because I have used it with open wireless networks. I am running Debian Sarge 3.1 with a 2.6.14.3 Kernel. When I type iwconfig I get the following output:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 unassociated ESSID:"nttmil" Nickname:"nttmil"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00

Power Management: off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

eth2 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

When I open up wifi-radar.sh I see the network and I get a good signal. When I click connect I get an error that says Could not get IP address! I tried the following command to use my WPA key:

iwconfig eth1 key wm2kb8smko

I got the following output:

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
invalid argument "wm2kb8smko".

I know the network works because my friend can connect to it using his MS XP. When I use the dhcpcd eth1 command it sits for a while then goes back to normal where I can enter another command. When I use iwlist eth1 scanning I get the following:

eth1 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:0D:97:05:00:0B
ESSID:"nttmil"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg

It seems to me as though everything is working. I don't know much about wireless networks or how to use the tools but any suggestions might help. I think I am missing an important yet simple step.

Have you tried disabling WPA and then trying to connect (would also need to disable it temporarily on your access point)? Often, that can cause problems. If it works fine with security disabled, try updating the firmware on your wireless card, as they can often cause problems with security on wireless networks.
