Unhappy Newbie trying to install netgear wg111v3, using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Kernel 2.6.32-28
Gnome 2.30.2

I've tried looking at the other posts but they get a bit technical for me to understand what I need to do and why.

I followed another thread on how to get ndiswrapper installed. I think it worked but not sure on how to go and see if I did it right.

I downloaded the xp driver onto a flash drive. I have 2 computers but only one wireless adapter. I'm trying to get everything set up before I pull the netgear off of this computer to put it on the Linux.

I would like advice:

to see if ndiswrapper was installed and functioning.
what exact folder do I put the driver into?
what codes are needed to make it all work?

I want to learn this system and I don't care if it takes 100 posts so I hope there is someone with alot of patience!
LOL.

Here is everything that I've tried so far. I can't make heads or tails of any of it.

made a little progress but still need advice

I've been chasing down every link I could. I've managed to get ndiswrapper installed and even got the netgear driver installed and recognized. (An .inf file)

My problem is this.....when I plug in the wireless, it shows the network that I want to hook into. (its password protected and I entered it.) It won't seem to fully log in. The window that shows the network name and password keeps popping up and won't go any further than that.

I have no idea what I've missed. Help!
