I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, and just used the Windows Wireless Drivers utility to install the driver for my Netgear Wg111v2. It is saying both the driver and the hardware are present, but it is still not reading my adapter for some reason. Any thoughts?
If yes, have you read how to use it and check is everything all right? There is a lot of articles about it in internet.
Well ndiswrapper was what I used first, there was a tutorial on how to install the driver with it. That didn't end up working though so I used the package that installs the Windows Wireless Driver utility, which I think came from the ndisgtk package. This installed the driver correctly I think, because it says driver installed and hardware present. I was also instructed to open /etc/modules and put "ndiswrapper" at the bottom. Not sure how relevant this is, but when I start Ubuntu I get a few error messages saying something along the lines of loadndiswrapper: version 1.7 does not match with 1.9.
You probably need ndiswrapper any way, because it should load driver from win. So I suggest to read instructions about it. I can't give you advice about ndiswrapper, I have never touched it (and quite happy about it), but in internet there is a lot of manuals how to load driver with it.
According to your output you sent before, ndiswrapper did not load up wireless driver and therefor did not make a wireless interface.

Well another problem I have is after I install the driver and use sudo modprobe ndiswrapper, my output is this:
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, it will be ignored in a future release.
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in a future release.

Ok, this problem is fixed. I had a bad version of ndiswrapper. I got the proper version, and now my card works. Now I have a new problem. I couldn't connect to my wpa2 network at all, so I installed Wicd Network Manager. Well now it finds my SSID and everything, but it won't obtain an IP address. My router is set up for DHCP, and I've even tried assigning a static ip with no luck. I've been checking forums and haven't really found a solid solution yet.
