Netgear ma101 won't get recognized by Mandrake 10

Hi,
I'm quite new to linux, and currently dual boot Win XP and Mandrake 10.
The problem I'm having is getting my ma101 USB wireless adapter to work. It's the revision B version. After extensive searches I'm no better off. I think I installed the Atmel driver, at least I followed a tutorial and the readme. The PC seems to show no knowledge of the fact the adapter's there, let alone connecting. Can anyone help?

mandrake 10 had some usb support problems that were a pain... upgrade your kernel or upgrade the whole distro... will resolve the issue.

Regards
Richard
