ndiswrapper with Belkin F5D7010 on Ubuntu: does not recognize device

Hi,

I'm trying to use ndiswrapper to use a Belkin F5D7010 wireless card.
All goes smoothly until I do:
# modprobe ndiswrapper

At this point, the install instructions say the light on the card
should come on - it doesn't, so:

# dmesg | grep ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper version 1.0rc2 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,07/17/2003, 3.30.15.0) added
ndiswrapper: request for irq 0 failed
ndiswrapper (ndis_init_one_pci:95): Windows driver couldn't initialize
the device (C000009A)

The driver appears to be the correct one, according to the information
from ndiswrapper's wiki.

According to the Ubuntu about page, I'm using Ubuntu 4.10, but

$ uname -r
2.6.10-2-686

This is the kernel listed on the 5.04 package.

I suspect that the system's been updated from 4.10 and the About page
hasn't. (I know it's off-topic, but can someone clarify whether this is a known issue?) I don't know because I'm (trying to) help a friend: it's not my box.

Any ideas about ndiswrapper?

TIA,
- QS Computing.

As unhelpful as it is, I have a card working with that same driver under ndiswrapper. Mine's a dell Mini-PCI. What kind is your friends? PCMCIA? PCI? MiniPCI?

I'd also suggest dumping the rc version of ndiswrapper and going with the stable 1.0. I'm getting the impression that rc is currently a touch on the buggy side.

OK, I'll see about getting ndiswrapper-1.0. Not sure on the type of PC, only IIRC it's a Sony VIAO.
