ndiswrapper compile error, mandrake 10

hello everyone,

trying to get ndiswrapper to work so i can hopefully get the laptop up and running. when i make install i get the following (not copy/pasted, forgive typos)

CC [M] /home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.o
/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c: In function 'usb_select_configuration':
/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c:529: error: invalid type argument of '->'
/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.c:530: error: invaild type argument of '->'
make[3]: *** [/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/usb.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver/] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/linux-2.6.3-7mdk'
make[1]: *** [default] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/ndiswrapper-1.0/driver'
make: *** [all] Error 2

left out the parts that appeared to work, since this looked like the problem and i didnt want to type all the other stuff.

any suggestions on how to fix this?

tia

Somewhere around version .10 or .11, ndiswrapper made some changes to accomodate the 2.6.10 kernel. Basically, if you are using a 2.6.10 kernel, you need to use one of the latest ndiswrapper versions, but if you are using an earlier kernel, using ndiswrapper .11 or earlier would stand a better chance of working.

Just so you know, you can capture the output of any command with a re-direct. So if you did something like

make install > filename.txt

all of the output of make install would be put in filename.txt instead of at the console. You can also use the 2> redirect to capture just the errors:

make install 2> filename.txt

Here is a handy little tutorial on what you can do with I/O redirect.
