Madwifi driver with Netgear WG511T & RH9

I am unable to get Netgear WG511T work with Madwifi on RH9 with linux kernel version 2.4.22

When the card is inserted the laptop freezes. On removing the card I get the following error:
"cs: socket cfea4000 timed out during reset. Try increasing setup_delay."

I have got the same driver to work with 3Com 802.11a/b/g card....

I'd appreciate if I can get any pointers to resolving this issue.
