linux-wlan-ng and prism2 card...ugghh, won't work.
Hey there,
I just got an intersil prism2 wireless B card for native use with linux. I've previously been using a linksys wpc54g card with ndiswrapper but wanted to get away from using *anything* windows-related, plus I wanted the monitor mode. My problem:
I have very little idea how to configure this card to connect to my AP. The info I've been able to gather from hours of googling isn't paying off. I can go into monitor mode no prob since kismet makes the switch for it automatically, but when I quit kismet it says it's unable to exit monitor mode and that I'll have to do it manually. I have tried fixing the wlan.conf and wlancfg-(myessid) files to state what I want but none of it makes any difference. Even when I fire up ethereal to watch what my card is *trying* to do, I don't even get an arp request. I think this must have something to do with the wlanctl-ng scripts but I'm not sure. ALSO: is it possible that something is screwy because both my prism2 card and my linksys coexist (albeit not at the same time) and are both called wlan0??? if so, how would I go about calling one wlan1? Thanks!
mandriva 2006 2.6.12-12mdk linux-wlan-ng-0.2.3 (compiled for source)
also I would have put this to the wlan-ng mailing list but I just timeout when trying to connect everyday, anyone know if they're offline??
