Question IRQ error loading orinoco_cs

My card had some trouble initially being recognized by the system, but after editing /etc/pcmcia/config.opts to look at the correct memory and ports all is well (i.e. cardctl info 1 returns all the proper information). If I restart pcmcia services (/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart) the orinoco_cs driver autoloads as it should. Then, I get this error message:

orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use

I've got several IRQ's excluded (4,7,9) in config.opts, but when I look in /proc/interrupts they don't appear to be in use anyway. Is there a way to define the IRQ that the orinoco_cs driver attempts to grab? Is there something I can disable to free the IRQ that orinoco_cs is trying to use?
I will post my /proc/interrupts file, lspci -vv, and config.opts file when I get home. Any help is appreciated.

Yenta_socket makes the cardbus use irq 0 at boot, can i change that?

Fixed problem... kind of. added noapic as a boot option.
I'm not sure what this will prevent me from doing, but it's ok for now.

Hello,

i'm a newbie in the linux world. I installed once fedore core 2 on an acer laptop with orinoco silver card and everything works fine that time.
After a while i decided to reinstall linux (exercice) and the thing that happens is: my wireless card doesn't work.
question: how can i fix this?
Can someone tell me in english what i need to do to get it back working. The card is auto detected by the linux kernel but i cannot get it working. I suppose that the problem is the ESSID, key, speed, and the modus (managed,ad-hoc,auto).
If i assign an fixed ip, the card works (is activated) but i cannot ping my router. No firewall is set. When using dhcp i cannot get an IP however any other workstation in the group can.
Also i wanna know what IRQ i need to use, default it's setted to IRQ11.
please keep in mind that i know almost nothing from linux except opening a terminal and use some commands. I'm learning it for a week now.
I do know programming in assembler, thus you don't have to keep it too simple neither.

thanks a lot.

A desperated seeker (lol)

dezert_fox,

What distro are you using? There is no way you should be having to do that much fooling around to get IRQ's to work. Just make sure you have pcmcia services and hotplugging installed and tehn will reconfigure interrupts for you. On the other hand if you are running Red Hat 2 from floppies I might understand
Regards
Chris

Raidu : Search the forums first for an answer and then if you have no luck I would suggest creating a new post instead of replying to an old one. if you want help with IRQ's however, make sure the distro you install is a new one. Fedora 2 doesnt seem to cut it for wireless.
