Internet Connection Sharing for Private Wireless Network
Hello,
I have 2 laptops and I wish to share the internet connection for these.
THe internet connection is through the ethernet port of the Linux laptop.
For setting up sharing, I have done the following:
1. Setup a DHCP server on the Linux laptop. The DHCP server binds on the wireless address (10.0.0.1, 255.255.255.0).
2. On the WIndows laptop, I have configured the wireless connection to use DHCP for address.
After these steps, when I activate the wireless on windows, it is able to detect the Ad-Hoc network of the LInux wireless. Howver, it is unable to obtain the proper IP address. After trying for sometime, windows automaticaly gets a random IP address.
Interstingly, if I runt the DHCP server in foreground:
dhcpd -f -d wlan0
It actually prints the DHCPREQUEST and DHCPOFFER information when the windows laptop switches on the wireless.
I am not able to understand, why the windows laptop is then unable to obtain the proper address.
Please help.
Regards,
Rajan
