Intel 4965 AGN Slackware 13.37 Can't connect to WPA2 encrypted network

Hi everyone,

I have a laptop with a Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965 AGN NIC and I can't connect to my wireless network when I enable encryption. I'm trying to use WPA2 encryption. I'm running Slackware 13.37 and I've followed this guide http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:network but I just can't get it working.

When I run

iwconfig wlan0 essid <router's essid> key <my hex key>

it says "Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument."

When I run /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 wlan0 start

it connects to one of the unencryption networks in my apartment complex.

Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks

-John

The set failed error is normal enough. Ignore it - it is log spam.#

have you seen wpa_passphrase? man wpa_passphrase if not

Using your wpa_passphrase key (in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf) you can do it by hand this way

wpa_supplicant -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -iwlan0 -Dwext && iwconfig wlan0 essid<whatever> ap (whatever)

I already used wpa_passphrase and added it's output to /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf.

I ran wpa_supplicant <args> && iwconfig <args> and it seems to hang; it out puts:

Trying to associate with <cell> (SSID='<my ssid>' freq=2437 MHz)
Associated with <cell>
WPA: Key negotiation completed with <cell> [PTK=CCMP GTK=TKIP]
CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED - Connection to <cell> completed (auth) [id=0 id_str=]

I launched my web browser and I can't get any pages to load.

EDIT: I forgot to run dhcpcd wlan0 after running wpa_supplicant and iwconfig *head desk*. Thanks for your help!
