I'm receiving packets but not sending on a wireless network

Hello, I'm new to the Linux OS. I'm running Ubuntu 5.04. My problem is in the network here at my home. My network card is a wireless D-link AirPlus DWL-G650 and my computer is a Dell Inspiron 1000. The problem that I'm having is I seem to be receiving but not sending packets. My status shows alot of receiving and idel. Often times it will also disconnect, showing my signal strength but not allowing me to get online. Any information that anyone at all has that they think will help would be very useful.

Thanks,
Chet

welcome to LQ!!!

maybe taking a look at some of the reviews for this card in our HCL would help:

yours has an atheros chip, right?? could you post the output of:
Code:
/sbin/lspci -v
according to the madwifi website, the card should indeed work:

Sorry it took so long

Hello, thank you for your quick response. Soon after my last post my system crashed and I had to reinstall Linux. This, however, may have been a good thing. My network card appears to be working like it should now, I am both sending and receiving packets. Only problem now is that I am still disconnecting every now and again out of no where. As for the "/sbin/lspci -v" response, for whatever reason I don't have a file by that name. I have lspnp but not lspci.

Thanks again for your help ,
Chet

P.S. I also plan to try dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows XP. If anyone has any suggestions on how to easily accomplish this it would be greatly appreciated.
